Detailed Privacy Policy

This policy is written for the current TBA Energy website and for the energy simulation game as part of the website experience.

1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the TBA Energy website, contact forms, workshop inquiries, educational content, energy simulation game, downloadable game reports, and related digital experiences operated by TBA Energy.

The policy explains what information may be collected, how it may be used, when it may be shared, and how visitors, instructors, students, and workshop participants can contact us about privacy questions.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide directly. This may include your name, email address, phone number, organization, school, job title, inquiry details, workshop goals, class size, preferred session format, and any message or files you choose to submit through forms or email.

Game and session information. When the energy simulation game is used on the website, the game may collect or generate team names, selected roles or archetypes, round-by-round decisions, energy mix choices, investments, imports, exports, subsidies, event responses, budget outcomes, public satisfaction, emissions, reliability, jobs, scores, exports, class/session identifiers, facilitator notes, and timestamps.

Technical information. Like most websites, we may receive browser type, device type, IP address, pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location derived from network information, cookies or similar identifiers, log data, and security/performance information.

Communications. If you contact TBA Energy by email, form, social media, or another channel, we may keep a record of the communication so we can respond and manage the relationship.

3. How we use information

We may use information to respond to inquiries, plan workshops, configure or support the simulation game, deliver educational experiences, generate reports or exports requested by a facilitator, troubleshoot technical issues, protect the website, improve the game model and user experience, communicate about services, and comply with legal or operational requirements.

We may also use aggregated or de-identified game outcomes to improve learning design, scenario balance, facilitation notes, and classroom materials. Aggregated or de-identified information is not intended to identify a specific student, player, instructor, or organization.

4. Classroom and student game data

The energy simulation game is designed for education, training, and discussion. Players should not enter unnecessary personal information into team names, notes, exports, or open-text fields. Instructors and facilitators should use neutral team names whenever possible.

If the game is used in a classroom, the instructor, school, or sponsoring organization may decide how students join, what names or identifiers are used, which exports are downloaded, and how results are discussed. TBA Energy will use game/session information for the educational or support purpose connected to the session, unless another use is clearly disclosed.

If a school-hosted session involves minors, TBA Energy expects participation to occur under school, instructor, parent, or guardian oversight as appropriate. We do not intentionally request sensitive student information, and we encourage instructors to avoid collecting personal details that are not needed for the lesson.

5. Cookies, analytics, and security tools

The website may use cookies or similar technologies for necessary site functions, form operation, security, performance measurement, analytics, embedded media, and remembering basic preferences. Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies, although some site features may not work as intended.

External services, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, analytics tools, hosting providers, media platforms, or embedded content providers, may collect information under their own privacy policies when you interact with their services or follow links away from this website.

6. How information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We do not use classroom or game participation data for targeted advertising.

We may share information with service providers that help operate the website, host content, process forms, deliver email, provide security, analyze site performance, or support the simulation game. We may also share relevant game session information with the instructor, facilitator, school, company, or organization that requested or administers a session.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate misuse, or in connection with a business transition such as a merger, restructuring, or transfer of assets.

7. Data retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, including responding to inquiries, supporting workshops, maintaining business records, improving the game, resolving disputes, and meeting legal or operational requirements.

Game exports downloaded by instructors or facilitators are controlled by the person or organization that downloads them. If you want a classroom or workshop export deleted or corrected, contact the instructor/facilitator first when they control that file, and contact TBA Energy if the request relates to information held by TBA Energy.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No website, form, email system, or online game can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information unless it is necessary.

9. Your choices and privacy rights

You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or an explanation of personal information that TBA Energy maintains about you. You may also ask to stop receiving non-essential communications.

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may provide additional rights, such as data portability, restriction of processing, objection to certain uses, or the right to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. TBA Energy does not currently sell personal information or use classroom game data for targeted advertising.

10. International visitors

TBA Energy is based in the United States. If you access the website or game from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where service providers operate. Those locations may have privacy laws that differ from the laws in your country.

11. Third-party links

The website may link to third-party websites and social platforms, including LinkedIn and Instagram. Those services are not controlled by TBA Energy, and their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

12. Updates to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the website, simulation game, teaching materials, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
